    #ReadAtHome - Reading Challenge 2020

by Hampshire School Library Service - (SLS HQ) -

Hampshire SLS would like to encourage all pupils to read during this stay at home period. Why not take part in our #ReadAtHome challenge? We are asking pupils to read 6 books (although you can read more if you wish) and submit a short review for each title here. If you run out of books at home, why not try the great range of titles on the SLS ePlatform?

You can direct your pupils to our Moodle Homepage to complete their review. Once completed pupils can download a certificate, which will be made available shortly!

This is an open Challenge to our subscribing schools and beyond. So please feel free to share!

To learn more about how to set up your school's eBook platform visit our Moodle page or contact your local centre.

    Using eBooks and eAudio

by Hampshire School Library Service - (SLS HQ) -

Getting access to eBooks has never been easier! If you're interested in setting up your school's specific site (spoke) for our eBook and eAudio platform hosted by Wheeler's, all you have to do is accept the Terms & Conditions. Email your local centre to get started.

Each school has free access to our collection as well as being able to purchase additional eBooks; this would normally cost a school £745 annually.  Our collection also includes an eAudio facility which would normally cost an additional £250 per annum per school.   As a Hampshire SLS subscriber, you receive eBooks and eAudio for free as part of your Service Level Agreement (SLA), giving you access to eBooks and eAudio for use in your school. For further information please visit the Moodle.

    Using SLS eResources from home

by Hampshire School Library Service - (SLS HQ) -

With the majority of school pupils now working from home, we just wanted to remind you of the e-resources that Hampshire School Library Service provide to our subscribing schools, so that your students can access them.

The Day for Secondary Schools enables students to look at daily news articles and look at the debates around them.  There is the opportunity to have some news articles in another language.  Also you can now sign up for free to The Day Home: a newsletter for households, with schools not being in.

The Day Explorer for KS2 enables children to look at weekly news articles as well as a weekly quiz

eChalk for Secondary Schools has hundreds of fun bite size interactive activities in most curriculum areas.  Use these at home to enhance learning.

If you have set up these eresources then students can use them from home.  Please contact our digital team if you are unsure about how to access these resources – digi.sls@hants.gov.uk
