The School Library Service Modelling Reading DVD to support primary schools in encouraging parents to read with their children is now available. Approximately 8 minutes long, the DVD shows parents sharing books with children between two and ten years of age. The DVD, or extracts from it, could be shown as part of a family reading event or parents' evening, or could be run on a plasma screen in an area where parents wait or congregate. A free copy of the DVD is available, on request, to all SLS subscribing schools. Email us if you would like to receive a copy.

Also available is our new 'Share a book at bedtime' booklet.  This is an attractive publication for parents containing hints and tips for sharing books with children and suggested books to try for KS1, Lower KS2 and Upper KS2 children. Limited numbers of these are available, free of charge, for schools to distribute at parents' evenings or other events.
