There are two new writing competitions this summer to keep your pupils' creative juices flowing.
Salisbury Cathedral, German author Cornelia Funke, and Orion Books are asking for short stories on the theme of "If Walls Could Talk". Cornelia's Ghost Knight novel was set in Salisbury Cathedral because “you can almost hear people whispering from walls telling stories of their lives”. The stories should be set in a real building, and should tell us what the walls would tell us, if only they could talk, about people linked to that building.
The second competition is a collaboration between the Anti-Bullying Alliance and Random House. Entrants are required to write a short story, blog, news article or poem that describes their vision of a world where young people have taken control of cyberspace and got rid of bullying for good.
Please see our Promoting Reading/Reading and Writing Competitions page for links to both competitions.
