The National Literacy Trust's offer to participate for free in their Premier League Reading Stars programme if they fulfil certain criteria has been extended.
The programme targets Year 5 and 6 pupils who are struggling to reach end of key stage expectations and in danger of falling behind; and Year 7 and 8 pupils who did not meet Key Stage 2 targets.
Their resource pack normally costs £150 for up to 32 pupils, and has been shown to have an impact on attainment and motivation both in reading and writing. Now they have received additional funds, and will be delighted to offer a final opportunity to take part this year. A further 140 free packs are available. These will be allocated on a first come, first served basis, and should be used ideally in the seven weeks following half-term.
To qualify for a free pack, your school must have at least 20% of pupils eligible for free school meals and / or fewer than 85% of pupils attaining level 4 in English at Key Stage 2, or level 5 at Key Stage 3. To apply you will need to complete a short application form. If you are successful we will notify you by early June.
