Hampshire School Library Service are working exclusively with Lexplore UK to offer a unique, rapid, AI reading analysis tool; based on over 25 years of research. This offering is only available to schools in Hampshire and surrounding authorities.
The unique reading programme uses eye tracking technology to determine the reading attainment of primary school children and takes just 2-5 minutes. We cover the following components:
- Decoding
- Phonological Awareness
- Fluency
- Reading Speed
- Comprehension
- Letter Knowledge
The solution provides an incredible reading analytics service which backs your professional judgement by being fully objective and has proven to identify children with specific reading difficulties, such as dyslexia.
The Lexplore Results Portal allows you to see how children read by following their eye movements across the text. Lexplore will also provide the percentile score and monitor progress over time. This test will save countless hours of assessment time, remove administration/paper based assessment and crucially, identify your high, medium and low attaining pupils, early.
The Portals analytics enable teachers and school leaders to implement the necessary strategies for an individual pupil or a complete cohort, to improve literacy and further pupil’s reader development. Lexplore is a school improvement tool which allows school leaders to get a complete picture of literacy along with the teaching of literacy in your school.
Lexplore have featured in the education press; been nominated for a BETT award, ERA award, eAssessment award and considered 8th in Europe’s top 50 most innovative companies.

Schools can either purchase a pupil assessment service from SLS where we will come in assess your pupils using our equipment, or schools can purchase the equipment to test themselves and SLS will train school staff on how to test and interpret the results.
We would recommend an annual pupil baseline test for the select pupils, then either a termly or end of year follow up assessment for the group of pupils who have been identified as needing strategies to improve reading; this will monitor the impact of the intervention put in place.
When schools purchase the pupil assessment service from us, at the end of the onsite assessment our team will deliver a result session with the school’s senior team which will enable SLTs to have the knowledge on how to access and interpret the results portal.
