Letter Writing Competition
Hampshire Cultural Trust and the Jane Austen House Museum have teamed up to announce a letter writing competition as part of Jane Austen 200: A Life in Hampshire. It is open to young writers across Hampshire aged 7-11 years or 12-16 years old.
Entrants are invited to write about a day in your life, real or imagined, humorous or adventurous, whatever you choose. Address it to ‘Dear Friend’, and write a maximum of 400 words. Entries must be submitted online or by post.
The closing date is Tuesday 28 February 2017, and the judges will be Hampshire writers Ali Sparkes and Angela McAllister.
The first prize in each category will be a £50 national book token, with the runner up receiving a £25 token. The winners will be contacted by email or post and announced at the Jane Austen Exhibition at the Gallery, Winchester Discovery Centre, opening mid-May 2017. The winning letters will be published on theJane Austen 200 website.
