SLS Reading Role Models is a summer holiday initiative for teachers, to encourage them to read a contemporary children’s title, and share it with their class at the beginning of September. 

SLS Reading Challenge

Research shows that reading for pleasure increases literacy levels in students. To help build a reading culture across the whole school community, the SLS produces Reading Challenges for KS1 - KS3.

Books With Notes

This section contains books from previous Book Awards that have sets of activities included. If you click on a particular book, you will find notes about the author and title and some suggested activities involving the book.

Running a Book Event

During the school year, you may wish to run a whole school book event, or set up a reading group. These documents will provide useful advice and guidance on how to get started.
