Sally Gardner's novel Maggot Moon has won the 2012 Costa Book Award in the Children's category. It tells the tragic story of dyslexic teen Standish Treadwell and his grandfather. They and their neighbours live under an oppressive regime which is using the race to landing on the moon as a propaganda tool. As one of the five category winners, Maggot Moon goes forward to the final, announced at the end of January.
